About me:

I am Jon Moffat, an North County resident with over 20 years experience in community engagement, youth education, and program development. I am running for the Vista school board to ensure every student has a safe, supportive environment the fosters success. I am committed to prioritizing student growth, parent involvement, digital citizenship, and safe schools. It would be an honor to serve our students, families, and educators.

Why am I running now?

IT ALL STARTED WHEN I began substitute teaching to better understand how technology is used in the classroom and how to help parents navigate it at home. What I found was eye-opening. Between COVID, the rapid rise of AI, and the widespread use of Chromebooks, the educational landscape has changed forever. Unfortunately, the district hasn't kept pace. As a result, our students are being left behind—especially in lower-income schools, which are hit the hardest.

Goals for public service:

I will never ask for political contributions while running for or while in office
I will commit to finding solutions to problems (Not just talking about them...)
I will focus on accountability at ALL LEVELS (teachers, parents, administrators, and myself and fellow board members)
I will visit classrooms, meet with teachers, staff, and parents regularly, and will be easy to access with concerns and ideas for improvements
