I am Jon Moffat, an North County resident with over 20 years experience in community engagement, youth education, and program development.  I am running fo the Vista school board to ensure every student has a safe, supportive environment the fosters success.  My journey began when a MiraCosta student ambassador inspired me to seek to complete higher education. As a former MiraCosta ASI President and Student Trustee, I gained insight into students needs and leadership. Professionally, I created the Cyber Education Program at the Vista Community Clinic, educating over 35,00 students and 5000 parents while securing multiple grants.  As Youth Violence Prevention Coordinator, I developed strategies for as risk youth, addressing community needs and mediating complex issues.  As a Facility Manager at New Haven Youth and Family Services. I managed operations, staff and resident well being, including client crisis management. In 2012 I founded Cyber Education Consulting, teaching digital literacy from first grade through adulthood and counseling parents and teens on safe online navigation.  These roles sharpened my skills in program coordination, community engagement, and operational management. I am committed to prioritizing student growth, parent involvement, digital citizenship, and safe schools.  It would be an honor to serve our students, families, and educators.

IT ALL STARTED WHEN… I began substitute teaching to better understand how technology is used in the classroom and how to help parents navigate it at home. What I found was eye-opening. Between COVID, the rapid rise of AI, and the widespread use of Chromebooks, the educational landscape has changed forever. Unfortunately, the district hasn't kept pace. As a result, our students are being left behind—especially in lower-income schools, which are hit the hardest.
